This project targets Eastern Habitat Joint Venture priority landscapes and will support breeding, staging, molting and wintering waterfowl by protecting 2,765 acres through fee simple acquisition and protection through conservation agreements. Of those acres, 1,265 will also be enhanced to provide optimal habitat benefits. Project activities will also include management of 1,085,314 acres of previously secured habitat, and stewardship activities will influence 850 acres.

This project will result in 1,250 acres of secured and 383 acres of enhanced migratory bird habitat. Additionally, 419,744 acres of habitat will be impacted through management activities and 3,000 will be influenced by stewardship activities. These actions will deliver science-based habitat conservation activities to achieve North American Waterfowl Management Plan goals in the British Columbia Prairie Bird Habitat Joint Venture and the Canadian Intermountain Joint Venture. Proposed activities support the five-year Implementation Plans approved for both Joint Ventures and will continue to target Joint Venture waterfowl priority areas.

This project will result in 10,770 acres of habitat secured via perpetual conservation easements and 450 acres under term agreements within the Prairie Habitat Joint Venture, including parts of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Additionally, project partners will restore or enhance 510 acres of wetland habitat through the installation of nest structures (400 acres) and restoration of wetland and associated upland habitat (110 acres). Stewardship activities will account for an additional 200 acres of upland and wetland restorations under stewardship agreements and management activities will affect 92,780 acres.

This project will enable long-term securement and management of prime waterfowl breeding habitat within the Prairie and Aspen Parkland ecoregions of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Project activities include fee simple acquisition of 710 acres, 240 acres of conservation easements, and management activities on 77,929 acres. Project accomplishments will benefit many species of waterfowl, as well as colonial water birds, wading birds and grassland birds.

Specifically, project activities include fee simple acquisition of 1,570 acres, 100 acres of conservation agreements, 150 acres of enhancement, 72,160 managed acres and 1,715 acres influenced by stewardship activities.

This project targets priority wetlands and associated uplands in areas of the Pacific Habitat Bird Joint Venture (PHBJV) and the Canadian Intermountain Joint Venture (CIJV) located within the province of British Columbia. Project activities will permanently protect 386 acres through fee simple acquisition, enhance 489 acres, and manage 19,665 acres of critical habitat for many priority species including Red Necked and Eared Grebe, Brant, Surf Scoter, Greater Scaup, Mallard, Cinnamon Teal, Northern Pintail, Blue-winged Teal, American Wigeon, Barrow’s Goldeneye, Oystercatcher, Great Blue Heron, Northern Shoveler, Bald Eagle, Trumpeter Swan, Harlequin Duck, Black-necked Stilt, Spotted Sandpiper, and Killdeer.
